If you like good historical novels, or good novels period, I think you’ll thoroughly enjoy Sabre of Honour. In this case, we not only have a great story, but one that so seamlessly meshes with the actual exploits of Napoleon Bonaparte that reading it is almost like being there.
This novel is fast-paced, covers a lot of historical territory, and will keep you turning the pages. Although the novel features plenty of bold action, Simpson also writes with a fine touch in crafting distinct and believable personalities for his main characters. He also manages to neatly convey the mood, atmosphere and temper of that era without allowing the details overshadow or muddle the storyline. Well researched and well written.
